A Guide to Guitar Lessons for Beginners

There are many competing websites, books and DVDs available when it comes to the subject of guitar lessons for beginners. For novices it can be very difficult to know which method of guitar instruction is best especially if you have no experience whatsoever.

The classic way to learn guitar is by going to a local tutor for private lessons. This time honoured practice is still probably the best assuming you can actually find a good local tutor, there may not be one present. My first word of advice is this – just because someone is advertising a guitar lesson does not automatically mean they are a good tutor.

The ability to teach guitar well to beginners is a skill and a talent. Quite often it’s possible to find someone who is an excellent guitar player but a terrible teacher!

So what if you can’t find a good local tutor or simply cant include a set hourly lesson each week into an already busy lifestyle? I would turn my attention to the internet as there are some high quality websites featuring great guitar lessons for beginners.

Learning at home in front of you PC means that you have freedom do practice at any time convenient and can repeat the lesson modules as often as needed. Should you have any problems most sites will answer your emails quickly.

Now for a word of caution when looking to choose which website and which beginner guitar lessons to take be careful. Some sites are tremendous in what they offer and the quality of the instruction. Others however are pretty terrible and despite a great sales pitch to get you to buy membership, their guitar lessons fall far short of being able to successfully teach you to play.

I’m sure you know already that none of this is going to come without practice, preferable daily and lots of motivation to continue learning. Learning things, any new thing, is extremely healthy for your mind. As you start your guitar lessons for beginners I wish you all richest enjoyment possible from the experience.
